It always amazes me whenever i see an awsome painting or a marvelous sculpture or a theater performer gives a stunning performance in front of an audience. And there comes a time when i want to be like the people behind these works or be able to produce such nice works of art.
It is just right that our artists are given recognition for their great work. And pick among the best of the best in their field. It gives them pride and dignity for their accomplishments. And wouldn’t it elate you even more if your own peers bestowed you the recognition? It becomes sweeter, as if you’re on the top of the world.
In contrast, when someone – just one person – gives you a recognition for the works that you’ve done, however great they are, that is a personal preference. A show of admiration for your work which soon, many might notice including your industry peers. And it’s truly something to be happy for.
But what’s worst is being self recognized by disregarding standards and guidelines just so you’d be part of the final list to be given recognition.
