Senseless Killing: Maguindanao Massacre

In current events, General, Politics on November 24, 2009 at 1:21 PM

It was just a normal day for me when suddenly, I saw plurk messages saying that a group of people have been abducted in Maguindanao and some are believed to be massacred. Last night, it was the headline for most (if not all) news programs. Ismael “Toto” Mangudadatu was on the phone narrating what happened to his family, relatives, supporters, and even the media who were covering the event.

He said they were all massacred… Though the anchor was asking for proof to verify the veracity of the incident. The answer came from the spokesperson of the 601st Brigade of the Philippine Army. Mr. spokesperson said that they already retrieved bodies. Some of which were brutally murdered, some even decapitated.

Because of politics or maybe a long time feud between clans and political dynasties in this area, they resorted in killing their rivals and worse, involving other innocent people as well. And do you think there’s another reason for this brutal incident aside from politics?

21 journalists were killed…. and those journalists might not even be supporters. They were just doing their job to cover the event.

Magundanao is one place I don’t want to be in. If you think Basilan is the worst area in Mindanao, now you have something better – Magindanao.

The government should do something about this! Lets stop senseless killings due to politics!
